TS centrifugal separators made of carbon steel have an internal structure made of 304SS and are designed to remove entrained droplets 10 microns and larger with 99% efficiency from air, saturated steam and industrial gases.  There are no moving or serviceable components thus they require no maintenance for the life of the vessel.  Properly size, centrifugal separators maintain their efficiency when the flow rate or temperature drops as might be associated with start-up, shut-down or upset conditions.

Upon entering the separator the moisture laden gas impinges on internal surfaces and circulates downwards where the inlet nozzle extension is positioned.  The resulting powerful vortex flings entrained droplets and particles larger than 10 microns away from the low velocity center of the vortex due to centrifugal force.  Dry gas and droplets finer than 10 microns within the center of the vortex exit the vessel, the larger droplets coalesce to a common drain and are prevented from re-entrainment by a finned vortex containment plate (VCP) located above the drain port.

The TS design is simply a type T centrifugal separator with an elongated body which enables it to handle a high liquid load; up to 60% of the maximum capacity can be entrained droplets larger than 10 microns and it will be separated with 99% efficiency.

Unless your application involves saturated steam or compressed air at 60ºF, sizing centrifugal separators requires complex calculations because the original sizing charts are based upon tests with steam and compressed air at 60ºF.  The calculations required yield the equivalent flow rate of air at 60ºF to correspond with the provided sizing charts.  While we hve links to the steam and air capacity charts as well as the conversion formulas below, our web-based centrifugal separator sizing calculuator will provide the calculations within seconds and makes it wasy to compare several separator sizes and designs.

TS separators are constructed to ASME code for unfired vessels, Section VIII, Division 1 and can be provided with code stamp and CRN as required.

The following table lists the part number for the standard TS centrifugal separator designs; as a cust fabricated vessel they can be provided with a corrosion allownace, support legs, lifting lugs, special NDE/NDT, special coatings, inspection ports and reduced connection nozzles.  The hyperlinked part numbers correspond to their outline drawing.
