Wright Austin Type TS Separators, Stainless SteelWright-Austin TS centrifugal separators made of stainless steel an other exotic alloys are used for industrial gas applications incompatible with separators fabricated from carbon steel.  The Wright-Austin TS centrifugal separators can be fabricated from 304L SS, 316L SS and other alloys such as Hastelloy, Inconel and Titanium.

Wright-Austin type TS centrifugal separators create a powerful vortex propelling droplets and particles larger than 10 microns to the vessel walls where they coalesce to a common drain port.  Only dry gas and entrained droplets finer than 10 microns pass through the center of the vortex and exit the separator.  Re-entrainment of the separated liquid is prevented by a finned vortex containment plate (VCP) separating the swirling vortex from the separated liquid.

The 99% efficiency for removal of entrained droplets larger than 10 microns is accomplished without any complex baffles, vanes or serviceable mechanisms, thus having a low differential pressure and requiring no maintenance for the lifetime of the separator.

Wright-Austin TS centrifugal separators are a variation of the type T centrifugal separators having an elongated body, which is effective for applications where the entrained liquid flow rate is up to 60% of the units flow capacity.

The sizing charts for Wright-Austin centrifugal separators are based upon actual tests with saturated steam and compressed air at 60ºF and therefore several calculations are required to equivocate other gasses and temperatures to air at 60ºF.  Although we provide the sizing charts and formulas to use them, our web based centrifugal separator sizing tool will perform those calculations instantly in support of comparing several separator designs and different operating conditions.  The only design criteria needed are the molecular weight of the gas, the flow rate, design temperature and minimum design pressure.

TS separators are constructed to ASME code for unfired vessels, Section VIII, Division 1 and can be code stamped and CRN registered as required.  Since TS centrifugal separators are custom fabricated pressure vessels we can accommodate customizations such as inspection ports, support legs, lifting lugs, corrosion allowance and special NDE/NDT.
